The Interactors of Salt Brook School and RC Dibrugarh celebrated 'World Interact Week' with a rally on Environment themed, 'Save the Earth'.
The Rotary Club of Dibrugarh and the Interact Club of Salt Brook School, Dibrugarh, as part of the celebrations to commemorate the "WORLD INTERACT WEEK", organised a rally on November 5, on Environment: the theme of which was Save the Earth. The 300-person-strong rally was flagged off from the SP's Bungalow by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Mr P R Kar. It weaved its way through the heart of Dibrugarh town (along KP and HS Roads) to end up in Phool Bagan.
The Interactors of Salt Brook School were present in their full strength of 93. They marched down the rally route with banners on Environment, Deforestation and Planting Trees and chanted slogans on Environment issues. They were accompanied by a van with Interactors making announcements in English, Hindi and Assamese. The piece de resistance was the model of a polluting factory - discharging its smoke into the air and river - mounted on an open truck.
A contingent of 72 NCC cadets, who are part of a national contingent taking part in an NCC camp in Dinjan, marched smartly in their freshly ironed uniforms along with the rallyists. They also carried colourful banners and shouted slogans.
The third group comprised of 75 students from St Xaviers School, Dibrugarh, some of whom had come dressed as animals.
Each of the three groups was awarded two cash prizes each for 'Best Banners and Placards' which were made possible by contributions from the Rotarians. The event received wide publicity in all sections of the media.
