Interact! Whats that?

Interact is a combination service, non- governmental and a social club for the young people, ages 14 to 18 or secondary school based students. Each of the over 8,600 Interact Clubs around the world is sponsored by a Rotary Club that provides guidance and inspiration on a continuing basis. In addition, Interactors often form a service partnership with the sponsoring Rotarians, lending their enthusiastic support and help to a variety of Rotary projects.

Interact benefits its young members, the sponsoring Rotary Club and the Community that the Interactors serve. But the youth clubs are self governing and self supporting, giving Interactors a chance to develop a range of leadership skills while learning the value of good team work. The Rotary Club gains a service partner, as well as an opportunity to prepare its communitys youth for the future leadership.

Founded in 1962, Interact stands for International Action, International because Interact Clubs exist in 110 countries with a membership of 198,000 members approximately and because many Interact projects cut across geographic areas world- wide, this movement is increasing with a quick speed around many others part of the world. Action because Interactors are doers, young people who want to solve problems, improve the quality of life and make new friends in their community and throughout the world. Each Interact Club carry out at least two service projects a year. One which serves the school or community and the other furthers International Understanding. Although Interactors work hard to make these projects succeed, they also have a good time meeting other teenagers and working together with their new friends. Add to that the feeling of great satisfaction hat comes from helping others and you would really have Serious Fun.

Interact falls under the auspices of the PartnersInService sections of RIs Community Development Programs. Thats because a successful Interact program depends on a close working relationship between the Interactors and their sponsoring Rotary Club. Another important element in this partnership is the District Interact Committee, which promotes and administers the program District wide. The District Interact Representative functions for the betterment of Interact Movement in that District under District Interact Committee Chairman appointed by the District Governor, to whom he is answerable.

From this according to me Interact can be said to be An organization under Rotary International, for the teenagers of 14 18, whose main aim should be to serve the society and the world, giving them a platform for their personality development and vocational training.
